The Gifted Child 1995
The Gifted Child was originally commissioned by Visual Arts Projects for an exhibition at Rouken Glen Park, an old Victorian park in Glasgow. A large glass sheet was suspended from a mature birch tree. Video footage of the North Sea, alternating with images of a synchronised swimmer, were projected onto a 1.2m circular sandblasted circle at the centre of the glass.
Installation, glass and looped video projection, 2.4 x 2.1m. The work was later exhibited at the Centre of Contemporary Art, Glasgow; The Ikon Gallery, Birmingham and the Stephania Miscetti Gallery, Rome.
