The Bathers 1993

The Bathers consisted of three reconsidered changing cubicles. At the rear of each cubicle a super 8 film was projected onto a small etched circle on the glass. The work explored themes of reinvention and baptism, a topic revisited in later works by Dalziel + Scullion. The films were shot in the north east village of St Combs, where Matthew and Louise first started working together, this was their first collaborative work.

Commissioned by the Institute Francais d’Ecosse as part of Fotofeis, the international festival of photography.
