Small Works of Great Scale 2025
Small Works of Great Scale represents a new area of exploration, born out of our studio’s relocation to the Outer Hebrides in 2022. In this collection of wearable works, we have distilled and honoured aspects of the biodiversity we are witness to on the Isle of Lewis.
Historically, the act of adornment; wearing jewellery; or sporting a badge, was a means to tell the world who we are, what we stand for, or who we would like to be. These relatively small objects have the potential to speak of large issues. The works in this collection, incorporate materials that appear to have little monetary value, yet they acknowledge the wealth of biodiversity needed by the non-human species we all live alongside. They distil thoughts and ideas into a badge of affiliation, or alternatively a momenta mori to a world whose biodiversity is reducing year on year.
For individual examples of these works, please visit the EDITION page of this website, or specifically the Ambergris Neclace, the Blue Mussel Brooch, the Pew Rings and the Seaweed Necklaces
