Vale Of Leven Gardens 2013
A series of light emitting images that focused on local allotments and extended our work visualising aspects of nature as a powerful tool in maintaining or improving our physical and mental wellbeing. On the allotment, useful relationships are made with plants, observing where one fixes minerals into the soil, another wards off insect damage, elsewhere, ingenious inventions assist in the propagation of the land. The garden or the allotment is like society in miniature: acquired knowledge, hard work, good decision making, neighbourliness and patience, whilst an abandoned patch might at first appear forlorn, it’s fertility dormant, with a little effort it too can be coaxed back into good health.
Commissioned by Wide Open on behalf of NHS Scotland for The Vale Centre for Health and Care.
