Seaweed Necklace 2025
This necklace is made from Knotweed Wrack, a species of seaweed that as it grows, it fabricates bladders that fill with CO2, these float and keep the plant upright, increasing its surface area and ability to absorb carbon more efficiently from the surrounding seawater. Over time seaweeds convert this carbon to organic compounds and biomass. Seaweeds can absorb twenty times more carbon than an equivalent area of trees. Worn over the heart this necklace serves as a reminder of the oxygen debt we owe to the vast plant lungs of the earth.
